Capa Nominee
2005

ISBN
978-0-98206790-1
This is more than an ingredient in a recipe. Spanning
1865 to 1997, the book is my great-grandmother and grandmother’s
life story, as told by her before she passed. It is accompanied
by the memories of family members and friends. I have
added just a dash of fiction to give it more flavor. Based
in Louisiana, with all its flair and Southern culture,
it describes the experiences throughout history, contributing
to the shaping of the generations.

A
Woman's Wrath by Denise Campbell
She
woke up at seven years old and found the manhood of her
so-called father in her mouth. She watched her mother
die to protect and save her innocence. She survived the
trauma and indignities excelling into law as a Florida
State Supreme Court justice. There she tried to make a
difference, but her anger and pain became intensified
as she watch murderers, pedophiles and convicted rapists
slip through the cracks of legal loopholes leaving her
feeling helpless, victimized all over again. She quickly
realized that being a member of the “Clothe”
was just another dysfunctional institution that only served
as a handcuff to true justice.

Through
a gruesome deadly sexual sacrifice that inducted her as
“Spider Queen” of a reckless, unorganized
group of women, she finds herself caught in a web of destruction
leaving piles of bodies and unsolved murders in their
paths. With her subordinates, she was judge and jury exacting
the rightful punishment on those who truly deserve it.
Taking authority into their own hands they are a law-abiding
citizen by day, and a sexy Vixens VIGILANTE by night

Every
so often, an anthology is written that is meant to inspire
and uplift; to fortify and nourish, to comfort and reassure,
but most of all, to bring you closer to a place of peace
and resolve.
This
anthology has stories for everyone who has ever experienced
the ups and downs of life. Whether you're a parent who
has lost a child, a man or woman who have been the victim
of abuse, someone who has lost their identity in their
love for another human being, survived a life-threatening
illness, have been knocked down only to get back up time
and time again…whatever your trial or tribulation,
at the end there is Triumph. click

Popular
author, television and radio host Tavis Smiley said, "Gumbo
for the Soul" dares to call it like it is. This serving
of Gumbo is a must-read for every parent, teacher, mentor,
and all who believe it is important that our children
can read and comprehend the English language." Member
of the highly-respected RAWSISTAZ Reviewers Alice Holman’s
R.A.W. Rating of "5 out of 5" accompanied her
broad review that included, "This collection of writings
is inspirational and uplifting. I can't think of a better
book to read when depression and a sense of meaningless
in this world overtakes your soul. "Gumbo for the
Soul" succinctly brings out our stellar history in
this country. The inspirational pieces are beautiful stories
that let us know God is with us no matter what. The gumbo
recipes begged to be tried for dinner."
